Residents and tourists alike lined Ash and Centre Streets late Friday afternoon to catch a glimpse and applaud Fernandina's Olympian Poe Pinson.

Earlier in the day, Mayor Bradley Bean officiated at the naming of the Main Beach skate park as the Poe Pinson Skate Park and presented the 19-year-old Pinson with a key to the city.

About 45 elements -- from marching bands, dance troops, the 8 Flags Jeep Club, Shriners and local businesses - participated in the parade.

Pinson was on her skateboard giving "high fives" to the enthusiastic onlookers and then stood atop a special skateboard ramp float that was the featured finale of the parade.

The parade was organized by the Friends of the Fernandina Skate Park.

Pinson competed in the Women's Street Skateboard event at the Paris Olympics and finished 5th in the competition.
