Fernandina Beach City Commissioners will interview three finalists for the vacant city attorney position on May 15 and then vote to hire one of the candidates.

The city has been without a fulltime city attorney since the commission voted 4-1 to terminate Tammi Bach last February. Harrison Poole has been serving as the interim city attorney on a part time basis.

The three finalists are:

Teresa Prince, a local attorney who is a managing partner of the law firm Tomassetti & Prince. She has appeared before the city commission and city advisory boards numerous times mostly in regard to representing clients on real estate matters.

She earned her law degree at the University of Florida.

Rene Rogers, who is a staff attorney at the Kentucky Real Estate Authority. In a letter to the city Rogers said her duties include representing the authority in legal proceedings, conducting legal research, drafting and reviewing regulations and ensuring regulatory compliance with both state and federal laws and regulations. She also runs a legal practice specializing in commercial, industrial and residential real property issues.

She holds advanced law degrees from the University of Miami and Regent University School of Law.

Monika Swiecinska, a Jacksonville area associate trial attorney for Farmers Insurance Company. In her letter to the city, Swiecinska said she is actively pursuing board certification in city, county and local government law by the Florida Bar Association.

She holds legal degrees from the University of Miami School of law.
