Of the 32 applications received thus far for the Fernandina Beach city manager position, 10 are current or former city managers, three are current or former township/village managers and three are current or former city managers. That's half of the candidates that have held the top position in their municipalities.
Colin Baenziger & Associates, the City's executive search firm, notified City Commissioners Monday that it was extending the deadline for applying for the vacant city manager job to July 21.
Ron Williams, senior vice president at Colin Baenziger, said in an email to city commissioners and the Citizens City Manager Search Committee about the initial response of 32 candidates that "Frankly, that is a reasonably strong response, however, It is not as many as we would like to have."
The top candidates from the experienced city manager group are Kathleen Gunn from Tamarac, Fl., Michael Lamar from Prescott, Az., and David Molgaard from Charleston, West Virginia.
