We recently reported that 12,295 vote-by-mail registrations in Nassau County had been invalidated by the state. That announcement left many of those voters confused on whether they were
still registered to receive a vote-by-mail ballot. Nassau County Supervisor of Elections Janet Adkins issued the following notice of instructions:
Nassau County, FL, 9/8/23 – Janet H. Adkins, Nassau County Supervisor of Elections, announces that our office
recently received guidance from the Florida Department of State indicating that any vote-by-mail request made
before the November 8, 2022, General Election has expired. Out of an abundance of caution, we have consulted
with legal counsel multiple times. The Department of State gave our office multiple interpretations of the
legislative changes.
We are working to protect the right to vote and provide opportunities to those voters who requested to voteby-mail by sending a letter to the 12,225 voters who requested a ballot for the 2024 Election cycle.
Any eligible voter who would like to request a vote-by-mail ballot can:
• Call our office at 904-491-7500 to request a 2024 vote-by-mail ballot
• Visit our website online at https://www.votenassaufl.gov/vote-by-mail-requestform, or
• Scan the QR Code (to the right) to access the vote-by-mail request form on our
website.
The Nassau County Elections office continually strives to build trust, create transparency
in the elections process, and promote communication with the voters of Nassau County. "My staff and I are
committed to protecting every citizen's right to vote. We encourage every voter to Get Election Ready as we look
ahead and prepare for 2024." states Supervisor Janet Adkins.
