Property theft and vandalism to boats docked at the City marina is necessitating the installation of three security gates to the docks to limit access to boats.
This Tuesday, the city commission will vote to award the contract for the gates at a cost of about $10,000. The city described the gates as follows: bids from qualified Marina Dock Security Gate Contractors for the FABRICATION AND INSTALLATION OF SECURITY GATES ON DOCKS D AND E, at the City of Fernandina Beach Marina.
The gates are to be as shown on the attached drawings to include two 5 ft wide gates and one 4 ft wide gate.
The gates are to contain lever handle opening hardware and are to be fabricated with marine grade aluminum T6-6061 welded aluminum structural members. The submittals should include gate style, size and configuration. Bid price for the gates shall include fabrication, delivery and installation. Exact final location of each gate will be coordinated with the marina staff.
Hayward Construction of Jacksonville was the low bidder.
Phase two will be installation of a locking system either with a card or a key code system.
