In a startling and unexplained development, the chairman of the Community Redevelopment Area Advisory Board (CRAAB) resigned just days after assigning board members tackle the issues of downtown parking.
Alan Hopkins informed Jacob Platt, Project Coordinator for the city, of his resignation from CRAAB. Platt did not disclose why Hopkins resigned as chairman in an email to the City Clerk's office.
At the May 3 CRAAB meeting, Hopkins announced that the board would investigate how to increase available parking in the Historic Downtown area of the city. He called on board members to come prepared to discuss the parking issue at today's CRAAB meeting.
Instead, CRAAB is now tasked with appointing a new chairperson as the first item on the agenda.
