City Commissioner James Antun has filed to run for Fernandina Beach Mayor according to City Clerk Caroline Best.
Antun was elected to the city commission in 2022.
He will face City Commissioner Darron Ayscue for the mayor's seat in the August city elections.
"I look forward to this opportunity to serve the community that I have called home for nearly a decade. I hope to be able to serve as a leader who listens, and contribute to Fernandina beach being a place my daughter can be safe and proud to grow up," Antun said.
Only incumbent city commissioners not running for re-election are eligible to seek the mayor's position.
Current Mayor Bradley Bean will end his two-year term as mayor in December. Bean is seeking re-election as a city commissioner.
Congrats Commish Antun!
